Lonny Pulkrabek, running for the Iowa House in District 73, is the current Sheriff of Johnson County.
Lonny started as Johnson County Deputy Sheriff in July 1985, and then became Johnson County Sheriff in 2005. In his tenure as Sheriff, Pulkrabek has advocated for mental health and crisis intervention training for police officers, ultimately implementing the first mental health officer training in 2005, and the first crisis intervention training in 2017.
Lonny is the former President of the Iowa State Sheriffs’ & Deputies’ Association, former President of the Iowa State Association of Counties, and has been a public servant for 35 years.
He has pledged to fight for strong public schools, affordable and accessible healthcare, expansive mental healthcare, and to revitalize rural economies.
